Our bathroom reno plans…
This year, I’m hoping to embark on the renovation of our bathroom, so I’ve put together a little moodboard of how I’d like it to look. I’ve finally managed to persuade Jake to let me have my pink girly bathroom of dreams, so I can’t wait to see it all come to life.
We have a small family bathroom (but thankfully much bigger than the bathroom in my old house!) and in a dream world I’d have a separate roll top bath, and shower unit, but we just don’t have the room. So to compromise, I think we’re opting for a single ended roll top bath with a shower screen. The other option is to have a full roll top bath with a circular shower curtain rail on the ceiling, but I’m not sure that will work practically, and we’re worried water will end up everywhere.
Bathroom Wall Tiles
I honestly have no idea what tiles we will eventually choose, but most of the pictures I save on Pinterest are bathrooms with these beautiful nude pink rectangular tiles, so I feel like those will be a close match to what we do pick. I want my pink bathroom of dreams, but I don’t want it to be a garish pink, I would rather it was more of a nude or blush pink, keeping it quite classy, whilst also looking girly and cute. It’s certainly going to be a fun project to do!
Bathroom Floor Tiles
In terms of floor tiles, I really have no idea what to go for. At the moment my thoughts are something quite light, possibly marble? But in my old bathroom I had some lovely patterned tiles and I really liked those – I’m just not sure if they would fit in with the theme as I don’t want the bathroom to look overly busy with it being quite a small space. I also love the idea of Parisian chequerboard tiles, but I’m not sure if we will save these for a different space.
Bathroom Hardware
I plan for all the fittings to be a nice antique brass shade but we haven’t looked into these and the cost yet. I think this will definitely be something I’ll budget for as I think brass hardware + pink tiles is a dream combination! I don’t actually mind my current silver traditional bath tap, but I can’t imagine a silver shower unit looking as aesthetically pleasing as a brass one.
Bathroom Vanity
The bathroom vanity that I want is the exact one I’ve included in my moodboard, I’ve fully fallen in love with the idea of an oak, or oak effect vanity with drawers and a slab of real marble on top. Then I think we’ll opt for a bowl sink and a tap that comes out of the wall if it’s possible.
Jake is going to be doing our bathroom himself so there’s likely limitations on some things due to how complicated they will be, and our funds, but I’m sure however it turns out it will be gorgeous as he is really talented at DIY and amazing at bringing my visions to life. Come back for the finished bathroom sometime in the future 🙂
